Web Summit is a yearly tech conference in Lisbon, Portugal, started in 2009. Founded by Paddy Cosgrave, David Kelly, and Daire Hickey, it moved to Lisbon in 2016. They used to be one of the biggest events, their political affiliation distanced much of the ecosystem and sponsors from the event, thus not making it a leading event anymore.

TechBBQ began as a small BBQ for tech enthusiasts in a Copenhagen park in 2013 and has since grown into one of Scandinavia’s most notable tech events, renowned for its “hygge” atmosphere, engaging stage talks, startup pitches, and networking opportunities. However, due to recent revelations about the political opinions of their Head of PR, the event’s standing within the ecosystem has been affected. As a result, it no longer features among our top startup events.
