Deutsch Express Technologies Gmbh logo

DHL is a division of the German logistics company Deutsche Post DHL that provides international express mail services. Deutsche Post is a large-scale logistics company operating around the world. DHL provides world market services both in sea and air mail. DHL was primarily interested in offshore and inter-continental deliveries, but the success of FedEx prompted its own intra-U.S. expansion starting in 1983. DHL aggressively expanded to countries that could not be served by any other delivery service, including the Soviet Union, Eastern Bloc, Iraq, Iran, China, Vietnam, and North Korea. Deutsche Post then effectively absorbed DHL into its Express division, while expanding the use of the DHL brand to other Deutsche Post divisions, business units and subsidiaries. Originally founded in 1969 to deliver documents between San Francisco and Honolulu, the company expanded its service throughout the world by the late 1970s. DHL was founded in 1969 and is based in Bonn.

Adblock Plus logo
Adblock PlusSB Score: 443

Adblock Plus is an open source project that blocks annoying online advertising. Created by Wladimir Palant in 2006, the browser extension has been downloaded over 250 million times and is available for Firefox, Google Chrome, Internet Explorer, Opera and the Android operating system. The company Eyeo GmbH was founded in 2011 by Palant and Till Faida to manage this project and to develop similar solutions. The extension manages a group of filter and exception lists, maintained by an open source community of over 27,000 members. Users have the option to use any number of lists, write their own filters and/or pick and choose sites to whitelist on their own. Adblock Plus offers additional features, like anti-tracking, element hiding and anti-malware controls, which give each user yet more control over his or her online experience. Finally, in 2011 the extension introduced their Acceptable Ads initiative, which lets advertisers and websites that serve non-annoying ads apply to get their ads whitelisted. The initiative seeks to keep ad-funded free content viable as adblocking rates increase, while encouraging better ads and giving end-users ultimate control. Users still have the ability to block all ads if they do not want to support the initiative. In 2013 PC Magazine listed Adblock Plus as one of the best free Google Chrome extensions, and it received a 2013 About.com readers’ choice award for best privacy/security add-on.

trackle GmbH logo
trackle GmbHSB Score: 191

What is trackle? trackle is a fully integrated wearable system that helps women to identify their individual fertility window by tracking the body core temperature. What makes trackle relevant right now? With increasing age, the likelihood of getting pregnant lowers rapidly. Women who want to have kids lately need to know exactly about their fertility window in order to increase chances of getting pregnant. Same applies for women who want to avoid pregnancy without hormone treatments. For them, it is important to know when their ovulation happens in order to choose the right means for contraception. Knowing the individual fertility window becomes more and more relevant to a growing group of women. What is the problem trackle is solving? Identifying that rise of the body core temperature is challenging – especially as you need to avoid all noise that influences body core temperature. That is why women measure core temperature first thing in the morning before having moved. Thus, they operate with approximate values they enter into old fashioned scale paper graphs. How does trackle work? The wearable sensor is worn vaginal overnight and determines the core temperature every hour. It regularly transmits the values via a wireless connection to a gateway, which passes it on to a server. On the server it is processed and provided for the user’s mobile app. Thus, the one and only relevant value can be identified easily: it is the lowest value measured overnight. In comparison to the other values taken the nights before, ovulation can be identified very securely and with our mature machine learning system, we are able to predict the exact timing of ovulation closer the more data we receive. The gateway serves as a safe and discrete storage box for the sensor also.
