When a disaster strikes (e.g. Hurricane Maria in Sep '17), there is currently no easy and reliable way for individuals to make small donations. As a result, many people do not give at all.
OneRelief, a micro-donation platform for disaster and humanitarian relief aid, aims to remove these barriers to giving. Living on social media, the platform allows users to make micro-donations ($1-5) to selected certified disaster relief organizations that have personnel in the affected areas and are able to report back to the donor.
OneRelief offers a number of unique value propositionsVery low giving thresholds and a seamless one-click payment experience incentivize participation from donors who traditionally would not participate in these giving campaigns. Additionally, by leveraging social media, OneRelief offers donors social recognition and the ability to scale their contributions by sharing their activity with others in their networks.
OneRelief operates as a 501(c)(3) non-profit.
