We've made a crowd-curated news aggregator designed to connect people through their passions.
Think Reddit + Pinterest.
All content is submitted by users and then subject to the voting of its particular interest-community (or tribe). We’ve created a simple interface that fosters online community growth allowing people to rally around content and connect more meaningfully. In reality, everyone is already part of a tribe, we’re just giving them the means to connect to it. The majority of people reading news online still do it the old fashioned way (top-down curation by an editor). Social News (e.g. reddit) reliably produces more valuable content than any other content-curation system. The problem is that it’s still only popular among the early adopting “hacker/maker” crowd, the reason being that current social news websites have confusing user interfaces and prohibitive design. This alienates the masses and keeps the benefits of crowd-curated news from them.
