The Ricochet is a small air launched reusable space plane much like the X-15 rocket plane designed to orbit small satellites (1100 pounds) into low earth orbit. It is carried internally in a modified Lockheed L-1011 airplane and is dropped at 40,000 ft. uses it's rocket motors to fly into orbit and deploy the satellite(s). Then fly back to land on a runway like a airplane.
These small satellites currently have a five to seven year wait to ride piggyback on a rocket carrying a large satellite or never be launched at all because of high launch costs. The Ricochet will eliminate the long wait for a ride into space by using a airline like schedule of one launch per week and making the cost of the launch more affordable. These satellites serve the following markets: telephony, tv/radio, data, remote sensing (weather), scientific, etc.
