Planting trees is a very well accepted and respected method of combating Green House Gases and Carbon Dioxide emissions which are responsible for global warming and climate change. At SGI we have taken this methodology a step ahead by implementing tree planting strategies which also help in alleviating hunger, nutrition and poverty.
Planting a tree through SGI costs US$ 9.95. Proceeds from this help the benficiary plant one fruit tree and the monies made available to him help him take care of his food and nutrition needs for one week. In return, he nurtures the tree to maturity over two years.
On maturity, usually by the third year, the tree starts yielding fruit worth US$9.95 annualy. On an average, a tree bears fruits for 50-60 years. As fruits are sold at market rates, the yields are adjusted for inflation.
Ideally, a beneficiary who we help plant a grove of 100 trees, is ensured of a continued and sustainable livelihood over his lifetime. While arresting rural migration.
