We are building a web/mobile app to help people to stay up on news efficiently no matter how often they check it.
The problem: Today’s deluge of breaking news makes it very difficult to keep up with current events without committing to a consistent and time-consuming news-checking schedule. There’s no easy way to sift out important stories from fluff or quickly get a clear picture of an event’s context. People who value staying informed but also value their time should be able to read news efficiently on their own schedule, instead of being constrained by the 24 hour news cycle.
We solve this problem by tracking users’ activity and showing them a ranked list of the few most important stories published since their last session. This way, they can catch up quickly on everything important they have missed, no matter how long ago they last checked. We are currently developing other features based on user feedback, including story histories and content personalization.
