There is a constant demand for higher bandwidth (the ability to pass more information in a given time) applications such as HDTV, in flight Internet and 4K, are thriving for large communication volumes. One of the major bottlenecks is the satellite Antenna diameter. Today satellite antennas are very limited in mass, volume and deployment mechanism.We are in the process of developing an expandable Antenna from the most advanced materials and polymers in the market today, this Antenna will be of 15 meters diameter and above, light weight, and with a folding factor of ten (meaning the materials when folded are ten times smaller in volume than the deployed Antenna). This means the Antenna will be folded and stored inside the satellite and "pop" out when in orbit; the materials have a memory to return to the original shape. We are also working on an advanced feed system that will be able to compensate for any inaccuracies in the final shape in space.
