Seven Seas Music, a California-based pre-revenue company, has created a web-based platform for media professionals to license authentic and hard to find international music. The platform, powered by a detailed map, allows users to search its unique musical database by scrolling over countries. Songs can be selected and auditioned, saved in a playlist or licensed for professional use. Music licensing has become a very important income generator for musicians as CD and download sales continue to dwindle. Seven Seas Music’s business plan includes two phases of rollout. Phase one is to finish a B2B platform where revenue will be based on percentage income of each licensing deal brokered. Phase two will attract mainstream consumers to the platform for international music. The subscription based platform will allow consumers to stream music or purchase single tracks. Seven Seas Music is seeking to raise $400,000 to finish the platform, hire web developer, hire label manager and marketing.
