As semiconductor devices continue to shrink, defects at the nanometer-scale have greater consequences. Positron Dynamics’ technology will allow manufacturers to detect defects down to the level of single-atom vacancies. At the heart of Positron Dynamics’ e+ NoDe device is our patented economical technique for generating cold positrons at unprecedented scale. The e+ NoDe positron beam interacts with materials to emit gamma rays, which contain the information required to characterize atomic-scale defects. Eventual applications of the core technology include a portable defect detection system with applications in aerospace manufacturing and in-space propulsion technology.
