Monolith develops and customizes physical sensors and interfaces to augment capability offered by off-the-shelf sensors, to be used in retail stores to collect a wide range of data to be modeled by the Monolith team. This includes video, sound and environmental sensors (temperature, sound, light, smell). Monolith ingests and normalizes data from external data sources, such as sales data, and from local security cameras.
The problem is that stores are not able to measure the impact of their in-store activities to be able to understand the behaviour of customers in store. Currently, stores primarily rely on output information from the cashier as well as some basic in-store technology (mainly counters at entrance). Therefore, the entire shop is limited to the (subjective) skills and ability of staff to observe and serve the customers. Monolith will develop a solution integrating different sensors that will enable retailers to capture relevant data about shoppers in store.
