Telcos are searching for new revenue streams without adding new operational burden to their current complexity. At least in Latin America, Telcos are solving this through strategic partnerships to deliver Value Added Services (VAS) to their current customer base.
The problem Telcos are facing to gather new partners is the lack of readiness of current Vendors. Neither the business model nor the Technology of current vendors are suited to the kind of risk-sharing / revenue share models that Telcos are looking for.
In the other side, there are a numerous amount of new applications and web services that are struggling to get traction and generate a customer base.
