Lockir (the name is inspired by the idea of college lockers) bridges the gap between social networks, and study & learning sites to encourage collaboration amongst students.
Features include; Q&A course specific, peer to peer help, share exam papers / lecture notes, write notes, collaborate for group projects, meet people, discuss student events, and social features.
We have seen social media being leveraged by the professional world in the form of LinkedIn, it's time the education world embraced social media in a beneficial way for the students.
For future scale Lockir also has space for SaaS feature, being offered as a private network for schools. Benefits for the school is that the students could get higher grades by collaborating offsite with each other, and the school can put advertisements across the site to sell any products, state announcement's, student trips, books, advice, anti bullying campaigns, etc.
