Waiting for care is the top patient satisfaction issue for providers of care, and patient satisfaction is more important than ever in today's value-based healthcare environment. Current customers include large healthcare enterprises like Wake Forest as well as small independent urgent care facilities.
Lightshed's first product, UrgentQ (released April 2013) allows patients at Emergency Departments and Urgent Care facilities to skip the waiting room by checking in online. It keeps them up-to-date with SMS messages, letting them know when they need to return to the office. It manages expectations by showing the patient queue and anticipated time-to-be-seen on a flat screen in the waiting room, similar to the flight status screen at the airport.
