Every week, doctors receive hundreds of clinical reports (free text reports) in no particular order, mostly in paper format. Critical results that need to be dealt with right away get buried in the pile, and doctors might get to them much later, or miss them altogether, a common problem resulting in nearly 200,000 annual patient deaths. Prioritas, our working prototype which is paperless, is a "priority inbox" for clinical reports. We take reports coming into the doctor's office by fax or other means, digitize them (if necessary), and prioritize them with our proprietary workflow and machine-learning algorithm. Doctors can then view these reports on a web or mobile interface and take immediate action. This solution will save time, money, and patient lives, while at the same time decrease the multi-billion dollar malpractice industry that exists due to missed clinical reports and improper follow-up.
