GaitTronics has developed a unique robotic patient handling device called GaitEnable that assists caregivers in lifting patients and supports and protects patients while they walk. The increased level of automation provided by GaitEnable allows patients to be mobilized with only one caregiver. This is in stark contrast to current practices which require 2 to 4 caregivers for mobilizing just one severely impaired patient. Additionally, GaitEnable provides complete fall protection with a unique onboard control system that actively monitors and corrects the patient’s movements. GaitEnable immediately reacts to support a patient when a loss of balance is detected, and corrects their posture so that they remain standing. This patent-pending feature transfers the responsibility of supporting the patient from the caregiver to GaitEnable and significantly increases both the patient's and caregiver's safety.
