Education Through Life Experiences is a project aimed at teaching high school students how to run a real-life magazine. Students will be able to learn practical skills that have been overlooked in many school curricula, many times as a result of budget cuts. Those enrolled in the program will learn graphic design, photography, videography, workplace communication skills, how to work as part of a team, journalism and how to meet deadlines. This will all be hands-on education and many studies show kids tend to absorb skills more readily when they are allowed to explore them in real-life scenarios.
The idea behind this project is to teach our kids marketable trade skills they can not only use in college, but throughout their lives in many capacities. Just think about how excited they will be when they can add “Magazine Editor” or “Art Director” to their college applications and list the work they do in this program on their resume, giving them a leg up as they enter the job market.
