CornerNews is a community-driven, crowdsourced information service that allows anyone with a smart phone to become a "reporter". Already built and in use today, at its core, CornerNews is about people helping people.
To post to CornerNews, users upload pictures from their phones, either using their profile names or anonymously, and include optional captions and hashtags. Posts are aggregated based on the time and location information embedded in the photos and made available for viewing, commenting, and sharing to social networks.
Initially, what we are finding is that people, advocacy groups in particular, that have a singular agenda to get something done are finding CornerNews to be a really useful tool. So we are partnering with them to educate them about CornerNews and we are building features that allow them easily to embed and share posts germane to to their cause.
All photos are freely available for redistribution by other reporters and news agencies.
