An API and User Interface for testing and evaluating the performance of perception systems for autonomous vehicles.
AsymSolutions is developing an API that enables simple integration of any perception system following the API's interfacing guidelines onto a test autonomous platform. We will demonstrate on a COTS robot with a simple perception system doing ODOA by interfacing with the robot's provided planning and control system. We are producing a design for a User Interface that enables visualization and analysis of the performance of the perception system. We are developing the metrics to be used for comparison of systems. These will include metrics such as time-to-goal, number of hazards encountered, number of human interventions required, and power consumption. The Phase I deliverables will include a final Phase I report documenting and describing the API in the form of a software manual as well as describing the design of the User Interface.
