Public Notice Journal is an online journal/database that makes it possible for cities, counties, courts, federal agencies and businesses to satisfy the requirement to post all legal notices in a place of wide public distribution. It will also format these notices in a way that is understandable to the viewer.
It makes money by charging cities, counties, etc., to post the notices online (at a cheaper rate than existing print periodicals) AND through sales of this searchable civic data. The database search part of the business will be called CivicSearch.
Examples of data a user could search for in the CivicSearch database :
Affordable housing groups could locate recently approved projects
Developers could track rezoning’s that would allow for more housing or mixed use projects
A restaurant business could locate available alcohol licenses
Builders could find cities that had issued a significant number of building permits.
